Being Smart with Smartphones

Smartphones and tablets has taken convenient communication to the next level. However, we’re even less patient on these devices because they’re often used during other tasks such as waiting in line (hopefully not while driving – but that’s another post for another day).
Just 3 years ago we knew that waiting 3 seconds for a PDF to download and open was too long to expect a recipient to wait. So imagine how lightning fast a message is disregarded if the recipient has to give a moment’s thought to the what, how, why of any ad or message.
An eNews is intended to anticipate needs and deliver clear, concise messaging. When properly managed it’s a brilliant communications vehicle…and an advertisement that doesn’t leave you guessing whether or not it worked. You KNOW through empirical statistics how many audience members opened the eNews and where they’re clicking.
Not only is that audience data valuable – that’s just cool.
However, if you’re taking your diligently-crafted copy and wedging it into an eNews template, not only does this always look obviously templated (and unprofessional), when sent without testing, you have no idea if the message you so carefully created is displaying in blazing, bright red Times New Roman, left justified and cut short or if your images are displaying – all that effort and opportunity is wasted – and in fact damage is done to your brand.
We’ve thrived from the challenges of testing for deliverability in dozens of software-based email programs (ie. Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora) and online email programs (ie. Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo) because looking good on your computer or program does NOT mean an eNews will display the same on another system. We think it’s extra-cool that smartphones and tablets mean eNews communication is on the rise due to it’s extra portability. Let’s face it – we’re all email junkies – so being greeted by a well-timed and well-thought eNews, eFlyer or eInvitation is a win-win for the sender and the recipient. Just please make sure your message is as smart as you are.

Tech Support is not your problem

With the wonders of technology it’s safe to say there will eventually be an issue.
